SCIAC Honors Male Athlete of the Week:  Occidental's Connor Whitman

Connor Whitman capped off his collegiate career averaging 19.0 points per game and  a remarkable 9.0 assist/turnover as the Tigers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament. During Oxy's first round 52-51 victory over SCIAC foe Pomona-Pitzer Whitman used 15 second-half points, including the final five points of the game, to punch a ticket to Spokane, Wash. Against Whitworth, Whitman got off to a hot start with 10 points in the first nine minutes of the game, finishing with a team-leading 23 and six assists. Whitman was 6-for-6 at the line in his final collegiate game as the Tigers fell 83-75. Collectively he made eight three-pointers with seven rebounds, nine assists and three steals with just one turnover in the two games. As of March 2 his 3.7 three-pointers per game and his 46.3 3FG% placed him fifth and ninth among all players in the nation. Whitman is also nationally ranked in free-throw percentage (46) and points per game (97). A three-time Oxy Most Improved award recipient, Whitman has scored 1325 career points, including 284 three-pointers, for the Tigers.
