Paul Schilling helped the Whittier College football team snap its
eight-game losing streak with a 31-28 win over Sul Ross State
(Texas). The senior running back ran for 117 yards on 20 carries
with touchdown runs of one, six and seven yards. He averaged 5.8
yards per carry and turned a fourth and two into six points that
put the Poets up 24-21 in the third quarter. He also capped a
six-play, 66-yard, drive with his third and final score of the game
that gave Whittier a lead it would not relinquish.
