THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The California Lutheran University men’s soccer team defeated Chapman University at home on Monday afternoon, 2-0. Josh Moskowitz drilled a penalty kick to the left side 25:23 into the game to score the go-ahead goal.

The Kingsmen doubled its lead nine minutes into the second half when Victor Perez took a free kick and found Jorge Martinez in front of the Panther goal, his third score of the season.

The scoring duo of Moskowitz and Martinez combined for 14 of the team’s 24 shots, 11 of which were on target. Cal Lutheran controlled the game and held major advantages in shots taken (24-5), shots on goal (11-4) and corner kicks (14-1).

Chapman goalkeeper Josh Kaplan made a match-high eight saves in the loss. CLU’s Chris Thompson and Mike Zubach combined for the shutout, making four saves in full time.

CLU (5-2) will finish its four-game homestand on Wednesday, September 19 at 4 pm as it returns to conference action against Caltech.
