PARKLAND, Wash. – The California Lutheran University women’s soccer team concluded its two-match, three-day road trip on Sunday afternoon dropping a 2-0 margin to Pacific Lutheran (WA) University. The Lutes scored the go-ahead goal just 94 seconds after the opening whistle when Cheryl Burris headed in a Melissa Buitrago cross to take the lead.

Buitrago doubled the PLU (1-2-1) lead after putting away a 30-yard shot in the 23rd minute to cap the scoring.

The Regals managed four shots on goal including two from Aubrie Smith, but Lutes goalkeeper Amanda Tschauner turned away all four attempts and combined with Kamryn Morgan for the shutout.

CLU goalkeeper Kristin Borzi entered the game in the second half, blocking three shots to shut out the Lutes in the final 45 minutes of play.

Cal Lutheran (0-3) returns to Thousand Oaks to begin a three game homestand, starting with SCIAC rival Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Wednesday, September 12 at 4 pm.
