ORANGE, Calif. – The California Lutheran University women’s basketball team dropped a 63-44 road decision to Chapman University on Wednesday night. Regals forward Nita Sims notched team-highs scoring 13 points and grabbing seven boards.

The Panthers offense pounced early on the Regals and never trailed in the game. Despite the loss he Cal Lutheran defense held the Panthers to just 63 points, a far cry from the 82 points Chapman had averaged its previous four contests (all wins).

Cal Lutheran cut the early second half lead to 10 following an Allison Neill jumper, but the Regals would go on to make just two more field goals the remainder of the half in shooting 3-for-21.

CLU center Rachel Bates added seven points and grabbed four rebounds and shot a perfect 3-for-3 in 23 minutes of work. Sophomore Maggie Neville had a productive first half scoring her six points in nine first-half minutes off the Regals bench.

Chapman junior Nicole Hayman scored nearly a third of her team’s points with 20 on 8-of-13 shooting in just 25 minutes.

Cal Lutheran (1-2) will look to even its record at home on Monday, December 3 at 7:30 pm against La Sierra University. The Regals defeated the Golden Eagles in Riverside a week ago, 73-61.
