Regals Basketball Downs La Sierra
Dahl scores 22 in road win
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The California Lutheran University women’s basketball team earned its first win of the season on the road Wednesday night against La Sierra University, 73-61. Sophomore Meghan Dahl scored a game-high 22 points and sparked a 12-2 run to close out the game.
The Regals never trailed by more than four points and held a slim three point advantage at the half. Nita Sims tied the game up with 12 minutes remaining in regulation and CLU would not relinquish the lead.
LSU’s Latrina Woods, who scored a team-high 13 points pulled the Golden Eagles within two points with two minutes remaining in regulation. Dahl and Sims combined for the next five points before senior Tiffiny Shim sank six straight free throws in the final 30 seconds of the game to seal the deal. She scored 14 points and dished out three assists in Wednesday’s victory.
The Regals offense seemed to click in the second half draining 16-of-28 attempts including three of its five three-pointers, and converted 13-of-17 free throws
Cal Lutheran (1-1) will remain on the road to face Chapman University on Wednesday, November 28 at 7 pm.
