THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The California Lutheran University volleyball team won its conference opener at home on Tuesday night, sweeping Caltech in three games. Erin Exline had a standout performance recording match highs in both kills (14) and blocks (2) to victory.

Cal Lutheran stormed through the first two games 30-14 and 30-15 before the Beavers rallied to lead a majority of game three. After CLU tied the game 20-20, the Regals reeled off a 10-4 run to close out the match.

Thirteen different Regals recorded a kill with Exline leading the way, hitting .722 for the match. Kristen Lemmert was the primary setter in games two and three, notching a personal best 29 kills to go along with three aces.

Caltech’s Lisa Yee notched 11 kills for the Beavers.

As a team CLU smashed 55 kills and hit .473 overall. The Regals also held major advantages in team assists (47-22), aces (11-5) and team blocks (4.5-1).

Cal Lutheran (4-3, 1-0 SCIAC) will face La Sierra at home on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 pm.
