Cal Lutheran Comes up Love Against Chapman
Panthers shut out Regals
ORANGE, Calif. – The California Lutheran University women’s tennis squad were shut out 9-0 on the road against Chapman University on Saturday morning. The Regals three doubles teams, which swept La Sierra yesterday afternoon, managed to take just six games from the Panthers.
CLU’s Kate Dehmer was the only Regals player to take a set in singles play as she won the second set 7-5 as the No. 3. However, Chapman’s Sheehan Trippel cruised in the third and deciding set to earn a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 win for the Panthers.
Chapman’s Liz Lewis and Kelly Fox dropped just seven games in four sets combined as the No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, respectively. The duo met up as the top doubles pairing to defeat CLU’s Suzeye Nomura and Dehmer.
Cal Lutheran (1-1) will play its first home match of the season on Friday, February 8 starting at 2 pm against Westmont College.
