HEAD COACH OF MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY AND MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Pomona College. The Department of Physical Education is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Physical Education/Head Coach of Men's Cross Country and Men's Track and Field, starting July 1, 2008. At Pomona, physical education professors are full members of the faculty on continuing revolving contracts instead of tenure. Responsibilities will include teaching activity classes in the physical education program, managing all aspects of Pomona-Pitzer's competitive NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country and Track and Field programs and assigned administrative duties. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for underrepresented students.
Pomona and Pitzer Colleges are members of the Claremont Colleges consortium located in Southern California, approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles. The Pomona-Pitzer Athletic Program consists of 20 intercollegiate teams and is a founding member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Colleges have a combined enrollment of 2,350 students.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in physical education
or related field
2. Understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy
3. Appreciation for the role of athletics in small liberal arts
colleges with rigorous academic settings
4. Capacity to teach an ethnically diverse student body
5. Collegiate teaching and coaching experience
