Seven Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's and women's swimming & diving teams earned College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Fall Scholar All-America honors as recently announced by the organization.
A total of 688 teams earned the distinction of CSCAA Scholar All-America team for the fall 2017 semester. The teams represent 430 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions. To earn the honor, teams were required to post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall semester.
The SCIAC had seven institutions garner the recognition on both the men's and women's side.
Leading the pack for the men's teams was Caltech with a team GPA of 3.67, followed by Pomona-Pitzer in second with a 3.50, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) with a 3.35. Both Chapman and Occidental registered GPAs of 3.31, while La Verne and Redlands rounded out the men's teams with respective GPAs of 3.29 and 3.21.
On the women's side, Pomona-Pitzer led the way with a combined GPA of 3.66, while Caltech and Chapman logged GPAs of 3.50 and 3.48 to finish second and third respectively. Redlands was next with a 3.38, followed by CMS (3.30), La Verne (3.29) and Occidental (3.27).
